Live-in friendship – Part 4

“Hey, keep visiting Reetha when I’m not here. Even Kira might not be home over the weekends. Reetha might feel lonely.”, Maya was telling Kranthi. Maya was getting ready to go to the airport. Her long pending summer vacation was due now.
Reetha was planning for a quick visit to nearby tourist attractions as her friend was visiting her after many years. She invited Kranthi also. Kranthi’s lame excuses annoyed Reetha. She went ahead without Kranthi.
The very next day after Reetha was back, Kranthi planned to go the same place with Jiger. She enquired Reetha about those places before leaving for the trip.
Reetha spoke to Kranthi causally. But she was very disturbed with Kranthi’s behavior. She realized Kranthi’s intention behind her excuses to avoid the trip with her. Talking to Maya made her feel better. They both were not happy with Kranthi’s behavior. Slowly Maya’s anger conquered Reetha too. She was waiting for Maya to come back from vacation. Maya was even more angry with Kranthi after talking to Reetha.
Jiger was in deep thoughts about his future. His conversation with his mom last night didn’t go well. As usual his marriage topic was trending in his house. He wanted to take it slow. But with Kranthi around he felt his love life will be in trouble. He couldn’t ask her to move out. He still felt the need for Kranthi for his casual lust. Also he liked Alice coming home. He enjoyed partying with her. She was a good company.
His phone vibration disturbed him. It was a message from Zarna. She had asked him out for a movie. He felt it’s right time to accept it. She belonged to his caste. Making it easier for him. He replied to her, conveying his positive response for the movie date.
This was a good start he felt.
Kranthi one the other hand was ditching all her female friends for Jiger. She was known to be loyal to boys. Her friendship with girls was always limited as she could never share true friendship with them. All her female friends ignored her friendship except Alice. As Alice had ditched lot of people for money and her needs, no one was ready to be friend with her. But for Kranthi, she was attracted by Alice’s style and posh attitude. She always wanted to be with posh friends and being friendly with Alice gave her entry for friendship with lot of luxury guys.

He was thinking about her. He didn’t know how to start a conversation with her. He had spoken to her few times. Since Alice was home he had completely forgotten about her. Her brilliance, interest and taste always attracted him. But his shyness stopped him from talking to her.

Reetha and Maya were planning to go for a movie. As usual the spoilsport didn’t join as she was afraid he would get close to Alice, so she was home watching their activities. After Alice left she felt relaxed. But still she felt upset and worried.

Sleeping in his arms made her forget all the worries about his closeness with Alice. He smoothly kissed on her forehead. Slowly smooching her hard. The so-called friendship never knew its limit. He enjoyed his fantasies through her. More than enjoyment he was learning to master his romantic skills. He never wanted to fail in front of his wife. He was scared to tell his future wife about his fantasies. He wished to keep his likings and enjoyment as a secret affair.

She kept thinking that he was falling for her. “Jiger, kiss me.”, she demanded. He obliged sweetly.

Reetha and Maya were upset about Kranthi getting hurt over the obsession for Jiger, without knowing intimacy between them. They always thought it as one sided love by Kranthi. They wanted to bring her back to reality. But as they were not very close friend to her, they didn’t want to cross their limits.
“I think we shouldn’t cross our limits Reetha. We are not very close to her. Her circle and friends are always different.” Reetha couldn’t agree more to Maya. “Hey girls, it’s Friday! Let’s go out for movie.”, Kira entered the kitchen. “What discussion is going on without me? Come let’s do something. I feel like going out.” Kira’s enthusiasm brightened Reetha and Maya’s mood. They quickly got ready to go out. Kira was always enthusiastic and fun loving.

“Why don’t we call Kranthi to join us? I haven’t met her before. I really wanna to meet her after hearing so much about your friendship.”, Kira asked innocently. “I don’t think she’ll be free. She must be having some other plans with her best friends.”, Maya responded with an annoyance. Kranthi ignoring their friendship had already started to burn the bridges between Maya and Kranthi. But Reetha always wanted to give Kranthi a chance. “As Kira says why don’t we call Kranthi. If she’s free let her join us Maya.”

As usual Kranthi’s days were dedicated for Jiger and his circle. Her refusal made Maya even more angry.

She felt uncomfortable. “Did I ask him at a wrong time?” Her thoughts were trying to land but she let them fly.

Reetha and Maya as usual were the last ones to hear her grumbling, but first few to really respond to her emotions. They knew it wasn’t going to work out. But they didn’t know, the questionable relationship was not just friendship. They felt it will be alright soon.

He was waiting to see her. Hiding his emotions and intentions. He didn’t knew what he wanted. He wanted to give it a try. Her brilliance, interest and taste attracted him. He wanted to know more about her. He didn’t want to take it forward. He didn’t want to approach her. He was scared if he had made the right decision. He just let it happen.

Alice, her bestie had come to meet them. They decide to chill with a drink but ended up getting drunk. Alice was drunk and he helped her settle in the bed. Holding her by her waist he slowly walked with Alice. She was watching him helping Alice. She was drunk, but her conscience was behind him.

After helping Alice settle in her bed, he came and sat near her. Putting his arm around her, he offered her a smoke. They both smoked together. Their usual relaxation after a drink. She removed his arm from her shoulder and ran towards the patio. He quickly grabbed her hand. She pushed him off.

He walked behind her. Hugged her tightly. “What’s wrong with you?”, he asked. “Do you like to date Alice?”, she asked.
Without thinking he said, “Why not? I think we both have common likings.”
She didn’t expect the answer. She felt insecure. Jealousy was burning inside. “You cheated me. You said no to me and you wanna date my friend. I can’t accept it.”

He was taken aback. He never thought she was still holding to her love. “Just chill. I just casually said it. We are all friends.”, he said.

“I feel you are going away from me. I can’t take it. I don’t want her coming in between us. I know this is bull shit, but I can’t stop thinking about it.”

Live-in friendship

A quick short story. Not too many words. But too many thoughts.

“Hey, stop it.”, she moaned. He slowly moved even more closer. She liked it. She laughed. She enjoyed it. “I’m still a Virgin.” She hugged him even more tighter. “Yes, we are virgin.” He responded with an affirmative kiss. “You know I’m an one woman man.” She thought she’s lucky. Slowly they drifted into deep sleep cuddling each other.
Their life was together. Best friends forever, they boasted to friends. He enjoyed her company. She loved to be with him in the dream of marriage and kids. Her life was filled with him, she felt. She ignored the surroundings. She ignored his deep likings. She failed to notice his deep thoughts.
He was not able to speak his mind. He respected her, enjoyed being with her. Their intimacy never bothered him. His ignorance failed to notice the thin line between love and friendship. He was quite far way from reality like her. Attracted by the live-in relationships he just went with it without understanding the outcome.
Both of them had their own dreams and expectations. She felt he is the one. He felt she’s one among them. He was confused. But their relationship and intimacy made them forget what’s happening.
She made up her mind to propose to him. She gained the courage and asked those words. “Do you think we can take this relationship to next level?” He was dumbstruck. He never imagined a love life with her. His heart was beating for someone. He slowly realized it was not her and it cannot be her anytime. He slowly gathered his words to answer. “You are my best friend always. I’ve never thought about us being more than best friends.” She smiled slowly.

Ladylove – Part 5

Months passed, I became more confident that she is not part of my life. Lingering thoughts slowly melted away. Just a passing cloud, my heart convinced, slowly drifting towards undisturbed night sleep.

Travelling was a definite part of photographer’s life. I enjoyed all my trips. Every time I visit a place, apart from stills I love to try the local food.

I was traveling to Hyderabad. I had accepted a wedding photography offer. I don’t do wedding pictures mostly, just a time pass or may be to make little money. I’ve already been there before, but didn’t get a chance to explore the city.

As I was traveling with my friends with whom I work, the journey was full of fun. We were chatting and making lot of noise. May be the alcohol inside played the game. People around seemed disturbed initially but later they started enjoying our songs and dance. And of course I showed my dance skill too.

We reached by early morning. Still had enough time to take rest and try Hyderabad biriyani. The marriage reception was in the evening and we stayed in a hotel close by.

After a good nap and shower, we all headed to roam around Hyderabad.

Ladylove – Part 4

It was a happy day for me. I think I didn’t mention about it earlier. I wanted to put up an exhibition of my clicks. Situation became favorable after long time and I was able to accomplish one of my dreams.

I had organized the event along with few of my photographer friends, exhibiting some of our pictures. It was good to see many interested people. Not much of sale but felt contented.

Event started at 9 AM in the morning and by the time we wrapped up, it was 10 PM. It was a busy day but my eyes were searching for someone. I couldn’t justify my behavior.

I didn’t see her that day. I wasn’t sure if our paths would cross again. Just a glimpse of her twice disturbed me.

Will I see her again? Cupid started playing the love game. Not knowing anything about her, I didn’t want to grow my expectations. Of course expectation always hurts.

Being a practical person, I couldn’t go in Cupid’s way. Though her thoughts kept coming to my mind, I tried to be steady in my decision. I kept saying to myself, “I’m not going to see her again.”

An enigmatic mind wobbling between lust and love?

Ladylove – Part 3

A love tale to remember. Not so boring, not so dragging. A small episode at a time, a treat to your heart. My first attempt to write short series.

I think he noticed me. I should have been more careful. Did he find out that I’m following him? Or was it just a coincidence that he was staring at me near the college road and railway station? Thank god he didn’t notice me in the book fair and theater. I was so close to him.

Why I’m doing all this? Shall I confess to him? I’m so tired of thinking. Hope things get better soon. I’m waiting for my day dear.

I should get up early tomorrow. I don’t wanna miss his photo exhibition. He is doing it for the first time. He must have struggled a lot. He is so passionate about photography. He is too good at his profession. He is my man.

Something is stirring my heart. My mind is blank.

Pouring my heart to you makes me feel better. My secret friend, I have confessed everything only to you. All my silent speech is scribbled within you.

I need rest badly. I feel very tired nowadays. It’s time for dreaming. Good night my friend.

I read those lines from the journal again.

Yet another love story. A journey with love. My first attempt to write short series.

I never liked stalking or disturbing girls, so decided not go in search of her. But I couldn’t resist seeing her picture. She had already conquered my heart. “If she is destined to be part of my life, it will happen.”, I said to myself.

Days passed, I was completely engaged with a new assignment. After a tiring day I was waiting in a local railway station to take a train to my place. It was not my usual commute, but had no other option as my bike was in the service station.

After 20 minutes of wait, the train arrived. I managed to get a seat in the busy general compartment. It was a 30 minute ride. I got down at my destination and started walking in the platform. The train slowly started moving, I casually looked at the moving compartments. My heart paralyzed again. Oh my god! It was her. Yes, she was in the train sitting near the window in the ladies compartment, talking with a lady.

I missed her again. I cursed myself for my fate.

Ladylove – Part 1

This is the first episode of my short series. My first attempt to write series. Yet another love tale. A journey with love.

I still remember the day I saw her. I never believed in love at first sight, but somehow her eyes proved me wrong.

I was a budding photographer then, happy with my profession and income. Never bothered about future. Photography is my passion and life. And it gave me the love of my life.

It was a Friday morning. I was busy clicking pictures near a college road. The sun was shining bright. A light breeze mixed with fragrance of flowers touched my skin. My camera lens lost focus. When I tried to adjust, I saw her through the lens. A moment of fluttering heart beat. Unknowingly I was watching her. May be focussing her through my lens. Her eyes could freeze the world. No wonder my camera lost focus when she passed by.

A glimpse at her paralyzed my heart. When I was back to reality she was gone. I felt disappointed, but wait, my camera had clicked her picture.

Don’t leave me alone

The clock struck 12. That night was unusually silent. Suddenly the fan stopped working, disturbing Nisha’s sleep. The power was down. Nisha wondered why the inverter wasn’t working. She got up and headed towards the hall to check it. It was near the hall doorway beside the TV stand.
As she walked towards the inverter her mobile rang. As the house was very silent the ringtone sounded very loud. She returned back to her bedroom to check her mobile. Mobile was lying on the bed spreading the vibration all over the bed. As she picked the mobile the call got cut. She was in no mood to check the caller identity as her eyes were longing to sleep. So she again went back to check the inverter.
It was a new moon day so the house was very dark. She slowly walked towards the hall. She touched the wall to find her way. The wall was very cold as the house was newly painted. She went near the inverter, bent down to check it. To her surprise it was already switched on. It was a newly purchased device. “Shit. This one is a scrap. I have to call the service center tomorrow. ” Rahul, Nisha’s husband had bought it last week after one month long persuasion by her.
Rahul was an archeologist. Due to his profession he had to travel a lot. Most of the time Nisha had to stay alone in the house. Recently they had constructed the house. There was not much houses nearby as most of them were under construction. Nisha was not happy after shifting here. She was quite afraid to be alone in the house during Rahul’s travel.
As the night was very cool, Nisha ignored the inverter and went back to bed. She fell asleep immediately. Suddenly the door bell rang. She got up and wondered who it could be. She decided to check it. She neared the door and was about touch the door knob, suddenly her body chilled. She realized that there was no power, then how could the bell ring. With a shock she went away from the door. Before she could recover from the shock, again the doorbell rang. Sweat ran down from her forehead. Her hands were trembling with fear.
“Who is that?” She asked in a low voice. There was no reply. She decided not to open the door. Suddenly her phone bell rang. The ringtone sent chillness down her spines. Her heart started beating heavily.
She made up her mind to attend the call. Slowly she proceeded towards her mobile. She took her mobile, to her relief it was Rahul. With a sign of relief she answered it. “Hey darling it’s me. Open the door I’m standing outside” Rahul said. “You really frightened me. I’m coming.” She answered.
She hurried and opened the door. Her face showed a sign of relaxation after seeing him. She fell in his arms. He hugged her tightly. She felt warm and safe in his arms. He gently tucked her fringes behind her ear and kissed in her forehead. The moment was so light and delightful. Nisha’s fear and shock disappeared. Rahul’s presence gave her a protective feeling. Who else can take care of her in this world? Rahul was the only person in this world who would care for Nisha.
“You told me you’ll be returning next week. What a surprise!” Nisha asked.”Yeah, I told, but the feeling that you will be alone without me drove me here.” Rahul said.
“I have been alone many days before dear. Suddenly why you have become so emotional?” Nisha asked. “Those times distance between us was short, I could return at any time. But this time I felt I’m going too far. I’m afraid to leave you alone baby.”
Nisha was speechless. Rahul’s affection and love immersed her in happiness and pride.”You were not going that far. Just to another state Delhi, not even to another country. Anyway I’m happy that you won’t leave me alone anymore. Please take me wherever you go. I’m ready to travel with you to any place.” Rahul nodded his head in an affirmative tone.
She hugged him tightly. Rahul lifted her and carried her to their room. The night’s silence was broken by their happiness. The darkness of the room blanketed them. They didn’t mind about the power cut. The fragrance of romance filled the room.
It was Morning 10 o’clock. Police had already entered Rahul’s house. Many people had gathered around the house. There were lots of chaos and commotion. Inside the house photographer was taking pictures of the corpse. There lay dead Nisha in her bed. No one would believe that she is dead. There was no blood, no sign of struggle, and no marks of injury. She lay as if she was in deep sleep.
Police was not able to find any evidence. Her body was sent for postmortem. In the mean time reporters had gathered and started questioning the people and the police.
Police tried to contact Rahul. His mobile number was not reachable. They tried contacting his colleagues. The answer they got put them in a state of shock and confusion.
Next day Nisha’s death was the headlines in the newspapers. The cause of her death was unknown. The article stated that her husband Rahul had died in an accident the previous night in Delhi.
”I tried calling Nisha around 12 to inform her, but she didn’t pick the call. Rahul was repeatedly uttering Nisha’s name. He repeatedly told that Nisha will be alone. But before reaching hospital, he died” This was the statement given by Rahul’s friend to the police.” After few months police closed Nisha’s case due to lack of evidence.
Somewhere in this world they live together, mixed in the air like the fragrance of a flower, flowing through the clouds, playing with the waves. Their unseen love lives above all.
